Dr. Paul J. Desjardins is a dentist and clinical pharmacologist with 40 years of leadership experience in academic institutions, the pharmaceutical industry and in the drug and device development industries. He is the principal scientist and President of Desjardins Associates, LLC. He is an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Desjardins has consulted with over 45 large and small pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies and law firms since 2011. He is the Emeritus Chairman of the Tufts Dental School Board of Advisors.
Dr. Desjardins received his BS with honors in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Rhode Island. He received his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Georgetown University. He completed a 2 year hospital-based General Practice Residency in Rochester, NY. From 1981 to 1998, Dr. Desjardins enjoyed a successful academic career at the UMDNJ - New Jersey Dental School (Now Rutgers School of Dental Medicine) where he served as Professor of Oral Surgery and Oral Biology and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
From 1998 to 2005, Dr. Desjardins served as Executive Vice President for Analgesic Clinical Research at SCIREX Corporation, a clinical research organization that specialized in acute and chronic pain studies. From 2005 - 2011, he served as Sr Vice-President, Global Clinical and Medical Affairs for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare (PCH) in Madison NJ.
